Mayan Adventure is Guatemala’s most comprehensive tourist directory, listing nearly 500 hotels, restaurants, Spanish schools, and a wide variety of other activities. Guatemala is known for its unique cultures, magnificent landscapes, towering volcanoes, and world-class Spanish schools. From the cobble-stoned streets of Antigua, the former colonial capital, to the quiet dignity of the highland town of Nebaj, to the huge Mayan temples of Tikal, Guatemala features an immense variety of activities for all types of tourists.
Beneath Guatemala’s wonders, however, sits a backdrop of the country’s decades-long civil conflict, which ended in 1996. This beautiful land still lives daily with the scars of war and the hardships of endemic poverty - but tourism is a potential way out. Hundreds of thousands of Guatemalans support themselves through tourism, making crafts, running small hotels, or operating shuttle services.
Mayan Adventure offers representation to small, locally-run establishments who lack the resources to publicize online. Many of our reviews are conducted by participants of Social Entrepreneur Corps , a month-long program for college students and recent graduates eager to help out and get involved in international development. With their help, and the objective reviews of people like you, Guatemala’s small (and large) tourist businesses have the opportunity to learn from the helpful criticism of past visitors, and spread their message to the world. |
